ABOUT
The Theatre Royal is a quaint bar located in the east side of Edinburgh’s New Town. Having recently been refurbished, to a very high but sympathetic standard, we do hope that you will visit us soon.
Our bar has comfy seating and a relaxed atmosphere. Elegant chandeliers, vintage fireplaces and the many posters and pictures from the bygone era set a striking theatrical theme but the central feature is undoubtedly the hand-made stylish island bar. With a superb selection of malts, wines, real ales, traditional beers and even cocktails, you won’t be disappointed.
Take a break from shopping in the nearby St James Quarter to enjoy lunch in our restaurant where our chefs will prepare delicious food using the very best local and seasonal ingredients. As we are only a few steps away from the Edinburgh Playhouse we are also ideally situated for pre-theatre and evening dining.

Come join us every Tuesday and Friday from 7pm-9pm for live music by a fabulous range of musicians.
ACCESSIBILITY
Our bar and restaurant are situated on the ground floor with our toilets located one floor below accessed via a staircase. Being a listed building, the internal nature of the bar means that we are unable to offer disabled toilet facilities at ground level. We do apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
